Rolling Vale Farms has worked Western Maryland ground for more than 150 years. What started as one family farm in the hills of Garrett County is now roughly 3,000 acres of corn, soybeans, hay and pasture across Maryland, West Virginia and Pennsylvania — still run by the same family, now in its seventh generation.
The grain operation and the cattle program aren't separate businesses that happen to share a name. They feed each other — literally. Our forages and feed come off our own ground, our manure goes back to our own fields, and the discipline that builds good cattle is the same discipline that builds good soil.
We WILL maintain farmland for the next generation. That's not a slogan — it's the reason the farm exists.

Our cropping operation raises corn, soybeans and hay across the tri-state area. Farming in hill country means our fields are smaller, steeper and more varied than the flat ground out west — and we treat that as a discipline, not a disadvantage. Contoured planting, soil sampling, and nutrient management planning keep every farm productive for the long haul.
Our soybeans go on to become soybean oil and soybean meal that feed animals across the region. Most of our corn goes to a feed plant that turns it into chicken feed — and the chicken farms send something back: we buy their litter and spread it on our corn ground, where it fertilizes the next crop. Corn to feed, feed to litter, litter back to corn — a cycle that keeps nutrients working instead of wasted, season after season. The rest of the crop markets through regional buyers. In pursuit of sustainable and productive agriculture for generations to come — that's not just the line in our footer, it's how the ground gets treated every season.

We rent and lease farmland across Garrett County and the surrounding tri-state area, and we're always interested in talking with landowners. Renting to Rolling Vale means working with professionals — a seventh-generation operation with the equipment, agronomy, and track record to farm your property right, and a business relationship that stays simple and trouble-free.
Clear agreements, direct communication, and rent paid on time, every time. One phone call gets a straight answer — you'll never have to chase us down or wonder where things stand.
We pay competitively for rent and lease arrangements, and we prefer multi-year terms — they let us invest in your property with split fertilizer applications, soil sampling, and nutrient management planning that build the ground year over year.
No nonsense: every farm gets evaluated for what it does best — row crops, hay, or pasture — and farmed accordingly, with the practices the ground actually calls for.
If you've been farming your own ground and are ready to slow down, we can take on the fieldwork while the farm stays a farm. We're glad to talk through what that could look like — no pressure, neighbor to neighbor.
If you own farmland around here, let's have a conversation. We're always glad to meet, walk the ground, and put together an arrangement that works for both sides.
