Our grain production business grows corn and soybeans throughout Garrett, Fayette, Somerset, and Preston Counties. We utilize primarily no-till farming practices with an emphasis on improving soil and water quality. Most of the corn we produce goes to create animal feed for food production. We maintain a grain elevator located in Accident, MD where we store our grain and ship year round to our customers. We also purchase grains from other local farmers in our area. We are a Licensed Grain Dealer and have a State Certified truck scale at our elevator.

We utilize modern technologies in our farming operation such as variable rate application, custom fertilizer and seed prescriptions, pre side-dress nitrate testing, leaf tissue sampling, split applied fertilizer applications, yield mapping, drift reduction, rate controllers and the list goes on.

We soil test every field we farm, apply lime and nutrients as necessary to produce healthy soils, balance soil pH, and install grass waterways where we have erosion concerns. We make a concerted effort to trim trees, pick rocks, reduce compaction, and maintain drainage.

We work with the state and county offices to create annual nutrient management plans to manage nutrient applications and eliminate runoff. We have participated for years in conservation stewardship programs.

As you can see, it is our goal to not only farm the land, but to improve it, sustain it, and ensure that it continues to provide a safe food supply for generations to come.
